On June 5, 2025, coinciding with World Environment Day and Ganga Dussehra, the Rajasthan government inaugurated the Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan-Jan Abhiyan at the scenic Chambal Riverfront in Kota. This initiative aims to address water scarcity and promote environmental conservation across the state.

- Restoration of Traditional Systems: Cleaning existing water sources and reviving traditional rainwater harvesting systems to rejuvenate groundwater levels.
- Tree Plantation: Promotion of tree planting under the ‘Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan’, aiming to plant 50 crore trees in the next five years.
- Cultural Integration: Organizing events like the Vande Ganga Kalash Yatra and ceremonial rituals at key reservoirs to strengthen public resolve toward conservation.
Significance of Chambal Riverfront
The Chambal Riverfront in Kota, a major tributary of the Yamuna River, served as a symbolic location for the campaign’s launch. The riverfront, known for its ecological and cultural importance, underscores the campaign’s emphasis on integrating environmental awareness with cultural values.
Campaign Duration
The Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan-Jan Abhiyan will run from June 5 to June 20, 2025, encompassing all 41 districts of Rajasthan.
Public Engagement
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma emphasized the importance of collective action, stating, “Water is life, especially in a state like ours.
